Coliving Spaces - Home To Location Independent Workers

In recent years, remote work and the digital nomad movement have grown more than ever. Remote work has redefined and shaped how we live and work, giving us a lot of freedom to explore life outside the office walls. Every day, location-independent workers have more options to choose from when it comes to new travel destinations, working locations, and lifestyles.

However, alongside all the freedom, working remotely and traveling have their challenges. These include meeting new people, creating connections, and finding the right work-life balance. That's where the coliving concept found its way and used this as an opportunity to create a safe space where people can connect, grow, and thrive together.

What is Coliving?

Coliving for digital nomads and remote workers is a concept of sharing a living and working space with a community of like-minded individuals. It's a place where people share similar values, interests, and common ground. Community is at the heart of coliving, and everything revolves around sharing, giving, care, and mutual collaboration, all of which contribute to more sustainable living and making this world a better place. Coliving spaces allow us to rediscover the power of community.

A Like-minded And Inclusive Community

How many times have you wished to share similar values and life visions with the people around you? Surrounding ourselves with a like-minded community is another advantage of the coliving world. It gives us an opportunity to share the space with open-minded individuals who support our ideas and accept us just the way we are. Colivings are the sweet spot where like-mindedness and diversity come together in harmony. Inclusion is an essential part of these communities, meaning that everyone feels encouraged to show their true selves and express their potential to the fullest, regardless of whether they are extroverts or introverts. Colivings host people of different ages, cultures, and professional backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common - a strong desire to look at life beyond prejudices.

Work-Life Balance

Remote work introduced a lot of advantages and positive aspects into the day-to-day life of people. It is also continuously helping to increase the quality of life by providing us with freedom and flexibility of time and space. But one thing that can pose a challenge in remote work is finding the right work-life balance. It's all about learning how to work in a smart and efficient way while enjoying life to the fullest. Colivings are continuously working on helping remote work professionals reach the right balance and improve their quality of life. They do so by providing a good working environment and encouraging a productive atmosphere, creating a safe living space and a community for networking, sharing knowledge, and engaging in group activities.

An average day in a community-oriented coliving space usually includes productive work sessions, mutual skills exchange, cooking together, and other social activities. Some of the best colivings out there have the practice of planning the whole week of activities and events in advance, which allows everyone to manage their time in the most efficient way.

Coliving As Networking Hub

Coliving spaces are a true hub of networks, connections, and collaboration opportunities. Just imagine having 15 to 20 individuals with diverse professional and personal backgrounds living under one roof, and all the knowledge that is flowing around. It's a perfect place to refresh your network, brainstorm, or even create some new business ideas. There is nothing better than being surrounded by the right people at the right time. Colivings are a place of inspiration, on both personal and professional levels, and the community is always willing to selflessly share their knowledge in order to help others thrive. This is another strong and valuable characteristic of these magical spaces.

Slow Travel and Long Stays

Slow travel and a slowmadic lifestyle represent a more sustainable way of living, working, and traveling. Slowmadism stands for changing locations less frequently while traveling and staying longer in one place to set a better routine, get to know the area, explore the local lifestyle, reduce costs, and travel more sustainably. That's why most colivings have a minimum stay of two weeks or one month, which benefits the community and encourages deeper connections among the colivers. Kotor Nest is one of the coliving examples where the minimum stay is one month with the possibility of an extension.

Coliving Experience At Kotor Nest

Kotor Nest Coliving was born with a desire to create a safe space for remote workers and digital nomads seeking connections and new experiences. Combining a beautiful destination such as Kotor with a great living space and strong values, Kotor Nest has become a home to location-independent workers from all around the world.

The best way to transmit the coliving experience at Kotor Nest is through the eyes of the community members. They are our best mirror and compass, telling us if we are on the right path.

The community is at the heart of our coliving space. It is the core and the foundation around which we build the whole experience.

“The Nest team focuses on the community. They plan weekly activities and they are also very open to support any activities the community feels like doing, which allows you to meet fellow digital nomads but also discover the beauties of Kotor.”

Sometimes, all you need to offer is a safe space filled with a bunch of amazing individuals, and the magic happens spontaneously.

”Thanks to all of that I was able to meet like-minded and very generous people from different backgrounds and countries. The synergy, respect, energy, and connection between everyone was incredible.”

Each week, we plan the common activities that bring value to the whole experience. Getting to know the area and making the most out of this beautiful destination, as well as learning about the local culture and customs, creates a special kind of connection to the place and people.

“Some activities we had were: hiking, kayaking, SUP, mastermind sessions, movie nights, welcome and farewell dinners, biking to nearby villages, sailing boat trips, and having lunch on a local mussels farm. In Old Town, you can find restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs, shops… Everything you need is within walking distance, including supermarkets, a gym, a shopping center, a bus station, and great hiking trails. It is a magical place and I’m looking forward to going back!”

Here at Kotor Nest, we are excited and passionate to bring the coliving concept closer to many more remote workers, digital nomads, and location-independent workers in the future. Coliving spaces and communities are a key element in shaping the remote work future and making this world a balanced, happier, and more meaningful place.
